Poor, poor Donut! He was found stray in northern Indiana, badly twisted with head tilt and missing an ear. Someone must have dumped him to die... this was not a condition that he could have survived on his own since he wasn't stable enough to eat, drink, or walk. Thankfully the shelter called IHRS right away and we got Donut in for vet care. He was treated for his severe dizziness in ways that he could eat and drink and get stable. He had a major surgery to remove a large abscessed area in his head where his ear had previously been... maybe an injury that tore it off led to the infection?
Donut is definitely special needs and spins in circles a lot. But the good news is, he's happy! He begs for food and attention, and has made peace with his problems as far as we can tell. Donut will always need special housing, meds, food, and medical care, so he is part of our sanctuary program. We aren't sure how much time Donut may have with us, but we'll keep him happy as long as we can!
