Update: Alley developed a retrobulbar abscess due to an infected tooth root. Please keep our girl in your thoughts as we work through treatment.

Alley was rescued from life on the lam by Indiana HRS volunteers. Alley loves to be petted and begs for attention anytime you walk past her pen. Alley is a little possessive in her cage and will try to nip if she is startled while you are working in her pen, or if she thinks you are messing with her stuff too much. Her foster family is working with her on her behavior and has seen improvement, but she would be more suitable for an adopter with rabbit experience and older children.

Buster is one lucky bunny! His mom was caught at large in a park, he was born 3 weeks later.

Buster is a very people focused rabbit who loves to be petted. He likes to be petted so much, he will stop what he is doing :). Buster is bonded to his brother, Rascal.

Buster's foster mom has this to say about him & Rascal:

Buster and Rascal are very gentle, so they would do well with the children. Buster is a bit shy, Rascal is the outgoing one. They do have a large running space and use it all. They enjoy their time next to each other, their time in their separate favorite places, and chasing each other jumping over each other looking like they are doing a coordinated dance routine. Rascal loves to do binkies. Buster is more laid back and enjoys laying on and moving around his "blanket" that is his own. They have excellent litter habits. They are good eaters, especially enjoying their salads and an abundant amount of hay. They also love their Oxbow treat every morning. It's their morning cup of coffee.

Can you provide these boys a home where they will be loved?

** ADOPTION PENDING **

Hello. I'm Chance. I'm the sweetest, kindest, most endearing bunny you will ever meet! I'm only saying that because it's true!

I came from a pretty tough background. I lived in a cage so small I could barely turn around. I didn't have good nutrition or care. I can't walk very well. My back legs aren't working like they should. I recently had an ex-ray and the vet found a back injury. Ouch! I am working through that with a top-notch vet and they are going to help me on the path to success.

Despite this, I'm very happy-go-lucky! I'm so glad IHRS came and rescued me that I give them kisses every time I see them. I'd wag my tail if I did what dogs do. I'd binky up a storm if my legs were stronger. I try anyway but sometimes I fall over doing it.

I have a bit of work to do to get in as good of health as I can. Once I find out what my future looks like, I'll be on the path to adoption.

If you can speak bunny, have patience and are kind, have prior bunny experience and want to help a bunny that has a heart the size of the Earth that is overflowing with love to shower upon you, then please pick me! I've been waiting for you my whole life! <3

Heidi is a bunny that was found by an animal control organization as a baby. Two years later she still had not found a home and we sprung her from the shelter.

Heidi is a super sweet, people focused rabbit. She can be a little leery of new people, but if you have some of her favorite treats, that will come a long way toward making friends!

Heidi is really not too much into playing with toys these days as she is too busy exploring her enclosure and her foster home.

Can you provide this super deserving rabbit a home where she can shine as the center of attention after having been passed over for so long?

Holland Lop
Female
Age: 4 years 5 months
Weight: 3.5 lbs.

Helen is one of the rabbits from the 215+ Holland Lop/Lionhead confiscation of December 2013. She was confiscated because she was living in an unheated garage in fetid conditions.

Helen came into rescue very ill (February 2014). She had bilateral indolent corneal ulcers, which we worked extensively with a veterinary ophthalmologist to help them heal. She is now in a foster home where she is supervised to ensure that her healing remains on track.

Helen is a super sweet bunny who is active and curious. Her adopted family will need prior bunny experience. If you are interested in adopted Helen, you will be rewarded by earning her trust and watching her unfold like a blossom in your family. Helen will not likely be a lap bunny who loves lots of snuggles (many bunnies aren't), but she will express her love and appreciation for you in many, many other ways.

Are you ready to learn the language of Helen's love?

Isabelle was one of hundreds of rabbits allowed to run free on someone's property. While the person meant well, the bunnies were subject to predators, weather (including Indiana winter), illness, fighting with each other, and hunger... not to mention making more rabbits the whole time and new rabbits being dumped by other local residents. When the property owner passed away, a whole lot of bunnies were left with no real caretaker. Neighbors threw out bread from a local sandwich shop as the rabbits' main source of food and by spring of 2015, about 25 rabbits remained.

Isabelle is one of the many bunnies IHRS captured from this group, pregnant and hungry when she came into rescue. Oh Isabelle... she's quite a character! Do you want an athletic rabbit who runs to greet you? Can you bunnyproof like crazy? Isabelle is very vertical and loves to jump up and out to explore. (Her foster home keeps her in an XL dog crate when not home, and puts a sheet clipped over her exercise pen play space to keep her in while she does her running about.) Isabelle will hop on your back if you are bent down in her play area - she uses you as a springboard to get somewhere else up high! She would make a great agility candidate or just a great source of entertainment. :) She enjoys petting and LOVES attention but doesn't always hold still for much of it. We've got her all fixed up from her illnesses and spayed now - Isabelle is clamoring to meet you!

Because Isabelle is high energy and high strung, she will need a calm home that can offer her lots of exercise and patience. She is not recommended around children.

Mancala, Marla's baby #5, was born Labor Day 2014. She was a Mini-Me of mama - white with gray spots and racing stripe - and had helicopter ears for awhile but now has uppy ears.

Mancala has a fun spirit and likes to play and cause a ruckus. She is ready for adoption with her sister Jenga. The girls are rather shy - they need an understanding home who will let them be bunnies. Mancala is more outgoing and will accept pets. They love to hang out all day and beg for snacks! Are you ready to give these siblings their forever home? They'll do a Bunny 500 every morning for you about 6 a.m. :)

Poor Marla was dumped with over 25 other rabbits in an industrial area of Indianapolis. Animal Care and Control captured about twenty who survived the road and she came to IN HRS rescue when we determined she was pregnant. Marla gave birth on Labor Day, three days after she came to IHRS.

Marla is bonded to her daughter Kerplunk. They are both very shy rabbits.

Can you give Marla the forever home she deserves, where she is valued for her own self and not just one among a warren of neglected rabbits? Marla would like to learn she is a special and loved companion!

Hi. I'm Owen. I have a tattoo in my ear that says "Zin," but I don't like that name anymore. It reminds me of my past and since coming to IHRS, I am a new bunny!

I used to be in a tiny cage housed in bad conditions. When I was rescued, I was very sick and wasn't sure if I was going to make it. A team of donors, volunteers and vets rallied to support me and I pulled through! I'm neutered and on the mend, though as I write this, I still have some sniffles that I'm being treated for. I'm also on a special diet to help me continue to get and stay healthy and happy.

I'm very friendly and social. I love to be pet and am VERY interested in you and what you are doing. I'd be good with children (as long as they are careful of my fragile small body). I might even want a female mate some day. I have good litterbox habits and am quite tidy and non-destructive. I'm training to be a free-range bunny some day! Yay!

I'd be good for first-time bunny owners as long as I'm all well when adopted. If not, I will need someone with prior experience to keep a good eye on me and support me. I have a chronic respiratory condition that needs to be monitored and treated from time to time. IHRS is working with the best vets in the state to try to help me get rid of it and be fully healthy, but it hasn't been 100% successful yet despite valiant efforts.

Can I come home with you?

Pat

Rabbit Photo

English Spot
Male
Age: 1 years 3 months
Weight: 8 lbs.

Pat is new to IHRS, he was confiscated in Duncan OK. He grew into those big feet and ears has become one BIG boy! Pat is learning that toys are fun and that he can to do binkies! They are not very graceful, but he does get some significant air =:3.

Pat likes to be around people, but he's also independent has has his own way in the world. He likes being out and about and will even hop up on the couch and give you the honor of petting him while you watch TV or read a book. He's been around cats and other rabbits, but we're not yet sure whether or not he wants a mate.

Pat is a big bun with a big personality. He'd do best in a home with prior rabbit experience who'd appreciate him and honor him for his Pat-ness!

Peat is a recent intake from a confiscation of lots of rabbits by local animal control. She is her foster mom's delight! She has made her foster mom smile/laugh every single day and is a fabulous companion.

She is very inquisitive and determined to explore 'where no man has gone before'. She loves (and needs) run time and dashes around the rooms and up-and-down stairs to burn off her energy before collapsing in a velvety pile begging for pets. If you are looking for a high-energy bun, she's your girl! In 6 months, she has never been caught sleeping :)

Like most rabbits, she does like to chew so bunny-proofing is a must. She has chewed through bags of litter and pellets then turned to her foster mom with her big innocent eyes expecting her to be proud of that accomplishment.

More than anything (except treats) she loves to be stroked. If she could hold you captive she would! Speaking of treats, they are a "Peat control device". Crinkle the bag and she'll dash back to her pen in less than two seconds.

Her litter box habits have improved to the "very good" stage.

Peat would really do best with and experienced rabbit owner.

Can you provide Peat a home where she can be loved and honored as 100% Peat?

Hello there!

I'm Phoebe. I've been at hotel IHRS for a while now and I'm starting to figure out who I am. My previous guardians didn't want me anymore, so they let me go in a field behind a restaurant in Mooresville, IN. Even after all that, I have a clean bill of health and feel great! I am a tough cookie, so I survived, but let me tell you it was not easy.

I'm thankful that the IHRS rescued me from the dangers that surrounded me and provided me a warm place to live, good food, keep me healthy and make friends with me. Sometimes, however, I miss the wide-open spaces that I had. I'm independent. I want space ... as much as you can give me! I can take care of myself and I've done it before, but I'm glad that I don't have to anymore. I like attention from my hoomans but I'm still working on trust issues. I don't know if I suffered trauma from my last hoomans or just turned a little wild after being out on my own. I'm still working through that with my therapist, lol.

I'm curious and playful. I also like to climb up on things. I have good litter box habits, but I always want a litter box nearby. A girl should have to go to far to go to the bathroom, you know? Sometimes I like to be pet, but I have to be in the mood. That may change if I get to spend more and more time with you (and give me Oxbow cookies). I'm very cute (and I know it) and I like to make you laugh. I'm not sure if I'll ever be a lap bunny though. And I'm not really sure about bunking with another rabbit. It would take a very special one to be my roommate -- one who won't cramp my style. I'd probably like it better to have my own space.

So what do you think? Do you have what it takes to earn my trust? It might take awhile, but it will be super rewarding when you earn it, I promise you that!

Rubik, Marla's baby #2, was born Labor Day. He is albino and has uppy ears, but when he was a baby the left one flopped!

Rubik grew up fast and has only known the life of a pampered house rabbit, lucky boy. He starts out shy but once he knows you, he loves to come see what people are doing and wants to be petted (and beg for treats!). He also races and jumps, chomps his toys, and stretches out for great naps.

Rubik is quite good with his litterbox and is just waiting for his forever family - and a nice big area to test his binky skills. He might be a good companion for a single girl bunny as well.

Sophie came into rescue from a confiscation of 36 rabbits from a breeder in Indianapolis. She is a super sweet bunny who has been spayed and is in good health. She likes her kibble, salads and treats. She has good litterbox habits and loves to be around hoomans. She might like a husbun some day but she'd also like to be part of the family.

Tank is a big guy looking for cuddles! He came into rescue from a southern Indiana shelter after he and ten of his friends were confiscated by local police. Tank has had a rough life and has needed a little time to slim down and clean up. He was recently neutered and will soon be ready for adoption.

Tank is a big sweetie who loves pets and enjoys being in the middle of the action - people and dogs around, no problem! He would love a spot in the living room to hang out with you there all the time. Because he is gentle and friendly, he would be a good rabbit for a first time adopter or just anyone who likes big squishy bunnies.

Tyrion was born on the lam after his parents, and other domestic rabbits, had been released into a populated area to fend for themselves. Luckily kind strangers who lived and worked nearby fed and watched out for the family until they were rescued and taken into HRS foster care!

He is a friendly bunny who can be a bit shy in new surroundings but warms up quickly. He is curious and friendly as well as polite and well-behaved. Tyrion would be good for first-time adopters or may even like a female companion. He loves his pets, treats, salads and hay.

Can you provide Tyrion a home where he can be loved and adored forever?
